Duke will not Withdraw from Germany? Curriculum of Duke MBA Amended

To maximize interaction and teamwork between the students in the United States and Europe, The Duke MBA – Cross Continent program will undergo several changes effective with the class entering in July 2003. “We have taken the idea of interaction among students from different countries and locations to a whole new level,” said Debu Purohit, associate dean for The Duke MBA – Cross Continent.

Under the current format, students in Durham, NC and Frankfurt, Germany are required to switch facilities either in term 3 or term 4. In addition, depending upon their choice of elective courses, students attend either the classroom facility in North Carolina or in Germany during terms 6 and 7. Under the new format, the entire class will be together during four of the eight residencies, twice in North Carolina and twice in Germany. The remaining 4 residencies will be completed on the student’s home facility. Terms 1 and 6 will take place on Duke’s main campus in North Carolina for all students. Terms 3 and 7 will take place at our classroom facilities in Germany for all students. Terms 2, 4, 5 and 8 will take place on the student’s home campus. “The new format allows students on both locations to work together for four of eight terms. These changes, in effect, make the program even more cross continent than the current format,” said Robert Ashton, dean of The Fuqua School of Business Europe.
