Leading international programme offers more choice and a greater focus on leadership and technology
Fontainebleau,
7 March 2002 - INSEAD is to undertake an extensive revision of its MBA Programme
curriculum from September 2003. These changes have come about as a result of
feedback from MBA participants, faculty, alumni and recruiters. They are being
undertaken in the firm belief that the MBA learning experience and relevance to
the business community will be further enhanced.
“It is not without considerable thought, time
and effort that we undertake these changes”, said Professor Pekka Hietala,
Dean of the INSEAD MBA, “but in short, the new curriculum will allow more
choice for the students, provide better exchange opportunities across campuses,
more innovative courses, and more leadership content”. The programme will
remain at 10 months duration, divided into five periods of two months. The MBA
Programme is offered on INSEAD’s campuses in Europe and Asia.
More leadership and entrepreneurial elements will
be incorporated into the programme within both the core and elective offerings.
All participants will from now on be required to take courses in Leading People
and Groups, Leading Organisations, and Information Systems and Management.
The primary change is the increase in the number
of elective courses to be taken, from seven to 10. These courses are to be
chosen from a large selection of elective choices numbering more than 80 each
year. In order to facilitate this change, some of the programme core courses
have been refined and some others amalgamated. As a result, participants will be
able to explore areas of particular interest to them more deeply than before.
The new curriculum will also enhance the flexibility for exchange between the
campuses in Singapore and Fontainebleau, France, and with The Wharton School.
This is as a result of having the final four months dedicated to elective
courses only, which allows greater freedom in campus choice. Full details on
courses offered are available at http://www.insead.edu/mba/.
